Sheesh...Technology Overload...

OK...I've been spending a lot of time surfing links and Blogs the past couple of days, and I'm just starting to wake up to the potential...and I'm stunned! I need help sorting this out, and some recommendations how to start to sysematically use this source(s) in regular, meaningful ways...

Hey Russ - You're doing well. To keep up with the blogosphere, I would recommend one video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0klgLsSxGsU ) and one site ( http://www.technorati.com ).

RSS is the key to keeping up with blogs. You can sift through a lot in a little amount of time. I use Google Reader to track my feeds.

Technorati is another way to keep up. It is a search engine for blogs. To make your posts visible in Technorati, you need to add tags to your post. Check out this post (and great tutorial) for how to do this (not for NECC, but for all of your future posts):

I use Bloglines myself. I like its portability to pop up where ever I have an Internet connection and not my machine. I agree that it allows you to cover a lot in a little bit of time. Learn what RSS can do to your advantage, but don't worry about understanding all of how it works. You will just make yourself miserable with all of the techy things it has.

Also, use categories in your feed reader (Google, Bloglines, etc) to make it easy to ignore less important areas in time crunches. Set aside time each day to enjoy and learn from your personal learning network that you have created within your feed reader. It is time well spent.
